What's up! I finally had some time to throw together a little vid of the lobster diving I did with my cousin a few days ago.

I've been testing out the gopro for night vids. So far, I like them.

It's been fun to catch the different night critters on camera. I'd love your feedback on how to make these vids better!

    Thanks,
    Jon

    Tough Mudder!! LOL

I really liked the video, did you use a GoPro7 or 8? The quality was great.

When we use to spearfish on Guam at night, our general rule was when the little fish leave, so do we.

Back in the the day in Fla and the Islands we used tickle sticks with a hand net or a tickle stick with a heavy mono loop at one end but I don't know if they are legal in CA. I have pulled many out of holes in the coral with my hands until I got nailed by a moray one day who was sharing same with the lobster. Good thing I had on heavy gloves that got shredded but I still have a "battle" scar on my right hand that has won me a few beers :emoji_beer: with "I bet mine is uglier than yours !" :emoji_fearful: Nothing like steamed lobster dipped in butter.

Mop heads worked great Weldon!! Back in my younger days in Hawaii, dove many times for bugs and hit many holes and crevices with the mop heads. Like you mentioned, many bugs, but once in awhile, you'd piss off some blind moray eel that tries to break off your mop head!!! It only happened a couple of times, but some of those eels were huge!! Freediving and catch and grab were still fun, but mop heads in holes with nothing but antennas sticking out were the honey hole!!!

    I used a 7 at 2.4k 60fps with low light mode.

I like that rule. Lately I feel comfortable as long as the seal swims with me while I dive for bugs. They use my flashlight to catch fish... Pretty funny to watch

Thanks. That was so cool to watch. I only hoop net from piers (no boat) and too old to dive. So far only 2 legals and maybe 40-50 shorts.
