Some random days in 2018. Fish porn, and kinda heavy on the pics.

Sorry for the heavy pic hit, I need to start posting as I go. Anyway, I learned a lot about the flatties the last few years, and ended up with 8 keepers in 2018. 23” to 30”. Carlsbad lagoon, Oceanside harbor, and mostly SD Bay. A few boat trips as well. Chain link weight is bad *** and works much better than lead for drifting sardines. It rolls the bottom like a caterpillar without snag and very smooth. Most of these halibut / bass were caught on docks with same AA curly tail 4” on 3/8 head. Repetition is name of the game. Hours on the water gets it done. I’ve had a dry spell the last 6 months in my same usual haunt. Not sure why, but I’ve had days in the same area that I landed 7 halibut with 2 keepers and not one bass. Lately it’s been solid bass and halibut have moved out of town. Ah well, that’s what makes it fun. The thrill of the hunt. That and never knowing what’s on your line after a heavy hook set...

Yes sir.. it’s just a little guy caught at Lake Powell. Walking the shore with a small spoon on an ultralight with #2 test is a blast for smallmouth, walleye. Wide open striper fishing at that place, but the Walleye are the prize eaters for sure. They’re kind of a random catch at that lake.

Spent many (too many) hours on Lake Erie walleye fishing. The Erie Dearie with a worm on the hook was the hot set-up back in the 80s. Don't know what they are using now. Great memories and yes, excellent eaters!

Very cool Keath. I’d love to see some old vintage pics of your Erie catches. Hell, take pics of your old pics and post em right in here. Would be cool to check out your old catches from the day. I’ve always though it would be awesome if Kellen started a new section just for past vintage fish pics, and any true stories that all of us have encountered over the years. Would be a blast to read I’m sure. I know I have a few doozies myself. I’m sure most of us have some encounters well worth reading. Oh man ! Lol....

A buddy of mine moved to Colorado years back , and always complains about his fingers splitting because of dry weather. I send him pics of the same thing here in California. It’s a work related thing, and I accidentally sent it with the fish pics. I also accidentally sent Doubles, triples of the same halibut on a couple pics here as well. I also sent 10-12 more pics that didn’t go through for some reason. Ughh. I’m learning. I sent the last split thumb pic just because you asked about it.... I get split fingers / knuckles etc frequently from work I do. Wet, dry, gypsum compound on hands all day long / months long makes for shrinking skin and massive splits throughout. I cake my hands in Vaseline and put socks over them before bed at night to try and heal them.
