Got up early for a Halloween fishing trip this morning. Left before the sun rose and got to see a big full orange moon hide behind the dense fog as I drove out.

Conditions: Fog made it slow at first. There was abundant bait all over the end of the jetty. Incoming high tide peak ~9:30. I fished from 7-10:30

I wasnt sure about fishing the jetty because of the barge but its working the center of the jetty right now. I started near the end channel side with shrimp and fly line. I wasnt having much luck as bait thieves kept pulling my line into the rocks with the surge. A fisherman at the end caught a mac then started pulling in bonito. I tied on the kroc on the casting pole and caught a 12 in bass. Another Bigger bite in the area took my Kroc to the bottom and snapped the 12# quick in the rocks.

Switched sides to the protected ‘cove’ side. Caught the black Perch and the female wrasse. I had one or two solid hookups get Snagged in the rocks, reasons why I like to fish bait at lower tide.

A group of guys worked their way from the cove to the end and started hooking into Bons once the fog cleared. Once they left I checked the spot out. I didn't bring heavier weights and wasnt having luck with my lighter jigging gear so I tried blue candy bar spoon I had waiting in the bag. It has a great flutter action. The result was a 16” Bon just in time to head home.

At the end of the jetty the water was super clear. There were tons of sardines and smelt and I could see large fish waiting under the bait between swells. It was very surreal as they were big fish. Looked like black croaker or bass to my eye but probably were bonito waiting below.

I was literally in the water about a quarter mile north of you; tons of bait around. I swam through a bait ball; 10/10 one of the coolest things I have ever seen. I think they were topsmelt, but a lot of them had little golden dots. Gonna need to get a gopro.
