As MattL Just stated in another thread, while fishing Miramar, he’s trying to expand his techniques. I’m in the same boat. Not literally! :)

Yes, I’m a bit in a rut too. I’ve got 13 rods on deck, and 11 are topwater. On the positive side they seem to work pretty well. Yesterday was the poppers turn, landed three of my four fish on it, Two like this. I fished a little further inland, El Cap.

Yeah, tops in full swing. Last week I got the plopper and the popper and the frog all working up at the Delta, and Clearlake. A lot slower than two weeks earlier where they were getting 50 fish days. We scratched out a few here and there. But you can’t beat being out on the water no matter how the bite is! :)

Pictured in the N. Clearlake area is my protégé Larry and his first buzzbait fish. LifeLarry

Your rut looks a lot more fun than my rut. Nice job.

Sometimes when I look at my topwater baits, I think of otay michael as he is Mr. Topwater. While I usually have a few favorites I toss, I sometimes wonder WWOMD(What would Micheal do?). Maybe I should throw a little more variety on top as it works for him. :)

Now really as I have at least 60 topwater baits and more stored in my garage that are smaller finesse topwater baits or classic Zara Spooks. My 3 topwater baits I primary use are a: Sammy, IMA Skimmer and Gunfish.
Now look what you did.....you said the word "online" and I am going to the Tackle Warehouse site to shop now...ha ha :)

Lol!! It seems at least once a week my wife comes in the front door with a look of dismay while carrying a box that clearly says tackle where house on it !!! She doesn’t understand why a fisherman needs so much “stuff”.

Aha.... so I'm not the only one who asks WWOMD..... Hmmm..... ;-)

When fishing with my kids, I remind them of two things I learned from otay michael

    1) They're professional eaters.

    2) Braid vs. tullies? Braid wins.

    Thanks Michael!
