Can anyone tell me a little or a lot about Lake Sutherland.
I plan on going Saturday and have never been

I cant seem to find any information about recent activity.
Realize its only open March to September

Any feed back would be great

    Thanks in advance

Can't give a report been closed. Usually behind our local lakes.
It's a Jewel, little bit of heaven right here in SD.

Some of us were there on opening weekend last year. It's the only time ever for me. Opening was delayed, later in the year so it's not the same thing. I would expect it to be tough for most this weekend. I caught one nice bass on a frog a little after sunrise. That was the first and last time that day that I was first to a fishy looking spot. I don't remember if I had another one on, and didn't see a lot of people catching fish. I did see a lot of fish activity and got some bumps and a big follower on a chrome lipless CB. However, later reports revealed that regulars or more experience people caught as many as 10 bass....maybe more. I think they were mostly on the other end, ynez arm area or water ever it's called ,not the dam end , There are some humps in the lake they know about too and they spent time working worms over them , if I recall all that properly. Maybe you can find the fish reports from early season last year.

I've been to sutherland like 4-5 times and it wasn't as productive as some have said. I had a kayak all times too and we would fish the rock piles in the middle and nothing. I know there are fish there though. A bonus is when the wild horses show up to drink. Theres a pack of wild horses at sutherland - just dont try to get close to them

We feed the horses carrots , they are usually pretty mellow and eat them from our hands .. they are not true wild horses so to say they were left by someone that ran cattle on that side of the lake

Yeah I think they did...oh yeah and all the bass died. Some of the locals said they transported all the remaining catfish to the Imperial Valley.

Good thing she did not lose any fingers! Hand flat when feeding horses!
I think the horses are on their own at this point. Have counted as many as 30.

You meant to say Otay.....Yes they are at Otay.
Actually they(lots of 6 lb bass) are in an area near where JJbasser fishes down at Otay......he is saving his secret
spot for special occasions when he wants to post 6lb bass. He just likes to keep us in suspense talking about broken tulles, wine, beer, Aztecs, weather, lake patrol checking permits and things like that. Then out of the blue.....he will be posting all types of nice sized bass. So folks....there is nothing to see at Murray or Sutherland...don't waste money fishing those dead lakes.
