I have watched a few docs recently about damns being taken down in WA state for the same reasons and the salmon population as a result returns and the river washes all the sediment down into the ocean in all of them. I think they should take em down and let the river take back over. The salmon population would thrive is my bet.

Nah in the longer undamming the Elwah they talk about them being so thick that they could walk on them in the river a long time ago. No way they eat them all. One could make an argument that the furry ones that ate them suffered from a lack of food source

Great move in the right direction.

Rivers with such a large fishery potential should never be dammed the way they are.

We have better means of power generation available anyways

Pretty sad how the sea lions can rape and pillage all they want, yet us humans have to follow all kinds of crazy rules and regulations, especially when it comes to salmon

I have fished the Elwah on many occasions . One of my favorite camping areas in the spring . The old dam there needed to come down due to age if nothing else . There is a species of steelhead that this was the only water they were in . Cresent lake has a few landlocked ones left I believe or at least they talked about it 30 years ago . The Klamath restored to original state would be great . Lewis and Clark spent a winter on the Upper Klamath where they traded dogs for salmon . The natives were so sick of eating salmon they wanted the dogs for a change of diet . Cool stuff . Hope it gets done . Just wish I had more years to see it . WR

Ha, wind is a joke..what a waste of land! I remember when one of our wacky mayors had a brilliant idea to float solar panels on all of our city lakes..that's a swell idea! I can't wait to see what Toad Gloria comes up with. He's already said he wants the city to take over for SDGE...because the government runs everything so well......
