Back at Barrett after a two year absence and loved the higher water level. There is still room for a lot more. We started about halfway down Hauser and got into a great topwater bite on the PopRs. Had a lot of fun for about an hour and a half and then it shut off. My brother and I decided to go with the natural shad senko after not much luck on the spinnerbait and chatterbait and for us it was the right move. They were hitting right next to or right in the green brush not by rocks, stickups, dead trees or logs which is unusual from previous years. We had a steady pick until about 11 and then it slowed down. We then made the decision to go down Pine Creek to check it out. We were more than pleasantly surprised as we got into some solid results. Again, the key was targeting the green brush. What made it even more fun was that there were very few people there. We stopped fishing at 2:30 as we are old and were tired. I got hot at the end and edged my brother 68 to 66. We had a lot of fun but did not get a fish over three pounds so no pics. Almost all the fish we got were fat and sassy.

When Laurie checked us out she said we had a lot more than the six boats checked out before us. However , there are some stud anglers that are still out there that will probably blow us away.

I saw otay michael at the end if the day, I was surprised you weren't with him. He found a nice frog bite as usual but I couldn't buy a single blow up on the frog. Frog and crankbait were the only two baits that I didn't get bit on. Hard to keep chucking away at those baits when plastics were working so well.

I don't want to hear that they are not biting cranks... that was going to be primary bait.

I'm not saying that it won't work. I'm just saying it didn't work for me. I'm sure it as just my cadence. If my buddy MaskedFisherDUDE was there he would've gotten bit on the crank just fine.

Don't decide what your primary bait will be before you go. Let the fish pick. Crankbaits are going to be tough at Barrett this year with the flooded brush. Not the best tool for the job right now for sure.

Nice job and cool report. I ended up with around 31. I started off with square bills then topwater by the dam cove.then worked my tube as far as I could back in Houser arm. Then my fins really started to hurt my feet so I pretty much fished all the way back with a creature bait. Had its of fun.
