4822F0C8-0D30-48A6-8CC8-1F0CCADF8AC2.jpeg Fun day at the opener! We managed 27 for me and 33 for my buddy Brad. He had a good spinner bait bite in the first couple of hours and then it went to jigs. Super tight on the structure and then some on some rock slopes. He definitely bested me on all three things that mattered. First fish, most fish and biggest fish. Most seemed like cookie cutter fish but a few over 3 and one kicker for him. He managed a 9.1 pound beast on the jig. I did make another detailed video and the link is below. I’m always grateful to be able to fish that lake and it always feels like Christmas Day on the opening week. Black and blue jigs with black and blue trailers worked best for us both though watermelon was working as well.

Great job on the 9’er!! Funny comment on the new scale. Caught a 9’er two years back and it bottomed out my 8lb scale. Did the measurement route to estimate mine (it was 25+ inches too). Going mid month and can’t wait! 2EC13AC9-BEC0-4934-9168-377A3EA8F6C3.jpeg

Forgot to mention that the new scale I got was on Amazon for $11 and change and goes up to 100lbs. I highly recommend one. I did upgrade the hook on it though. I just took it off my OLD scale.

I did buy a new scale right after that! Then went out in my garage and found the same one bought earlier. Can’t say how many times I’ve bought fishing gear that I already owned
