Got to the lake at sunrise and fished till 10am. The bite started off slow for me until I got to some rockpiles.I started off with a trigged full size Bhog for a few and switched up to a dropshot zoom finesse worm hooked wacky style on the hook and a 6" leader when the sun came out that's when the bite picked up for me going gang busters on the standard clones that were mad as hell everyone of them putting up a decent fight and it was a whole lot of fun catching them.

Then on my last fish I hooked in to a good one knowing it was due to the fact the it was not shaking like the previous fish had been. The easiest way to lose a bigger fish on 6lb test is to try and horse them in because when they come to the surface and see you when you are reeling them in is when they will make their hardest run.It did exactly that and I loosened the drag a bit and let it rip.

I think it was my PB El Cap fish! I could not get the whole fish in the photo frame due to the fact that it was a little heavy and long to hold out and get a good shot in the float tube.Good fun nonetheless.

I'm thinking that the quality of fish at El Cap has always been good but even better with this covid thing due to the less racket from there not being a bunch of jet skis and the like allowed there right now.It would be nice if they kept it that way.Im all for no water contact :)

    Great job out there fishindad!
Those were some hefty bass in those pics. What fun that must have been!!!
To think I was heading out to grab some lunch to go at Barona Casino(not that far from El Cap) while you were nailing those bass. I got home and sat down to eat an early lunch with my girlfriend and saw your post on my laptop and it made my lunch even taste better. Thanks for sharing.
    Tight lines always. :)

Those are good ones! Especially for a fairly short morning session. Thanks for the report and pics. Looks like you have a very fun time! I wouldn't miss the jet ski's or the tournaments.

It's a good thing Murray was closed! I wasn't even planning on going to El Cap..

Went to Murray the next day and was humbled....

Went to Murray and got humbled....that puts you in a very large club! I've been fishing that lake since I was 8 years old, a long time ago, and it definitely has a mind of it's own!

I have been humbled there many times believe me. Often through the years I have caught a number of bass on one day and go back maybe 2 days later and it was like I was fishing a different lake and lucky to get one or two fish. Just a couple times that come to mind.....I caught 9 bass on topwater baits between 7-8:45a.m. and called my buddy about the topwater action. My buddy came with me the very next day and I could only land one on top and my buddy did not get any on top and we ended up worm fishing.
Then just a couple years ago I was off work for 2 days with a sore throat and the second day was bored(still had a sore throat) and felt well enough to go to Murray. I caught 11 bass that day with 9 or them coming in a small area of shoreline on plastic worms and I missed some bass there too. That was on a Thursday and went back on Saturday and did not get one fish in that area throwing the same exact bait I used on Thursday. Ahhh Murray...sometimes is fun and sometimes is miserable. :)
