So...now when you renew your boat registration, your quagga sticker fee is no longer part of that..and you need to renew it online, or at the DMV! Sounds like a great way for the DFG to write a bunch of tickets, since most people don't seem to know the new process! Oh...and what does the DMV have to do with quaggas? Just another government fee I guess...I sure don't see any DMV employees out collecting quaggas.... Screenshot_20220103-201504_Photos.jpg

Yep...coincidently I decided to put my boat and kayak registration stickers on today and noticed there was no Quagga Mussel sticker. I figured maybe I just don't need it and then later thanks to a PM message with mcfish, he told me I needed to get them. Let's see I needed 2, (boat and for my Kayak...even though I have only used my electric mower less that 10 times in 2 years)so that $32 that I could have used at Tackle Warehouse or lake fishing permits.
    Oh well......what can you do?

I guess I will have to carry around a print out of my receipt for the quagga stickers. I hope no game warden tries to give me crap about not having a new one even though I have the regular boat and kayak registration stickers already attached to my vessels. . I may read him the riot act or better yet go mcfish on him(when mcfish loses a big fish, you do not want to be anywhere without 50 feet of him....trust me).
So if you do not hear from me for a while...I am in the San Diego Jail most likely.
I still may be able to post from there.....ha ha

Quaggas 1st arrived in California in 2008. If the intent is to use the money to prevent the spread, then it is about 14 years too late. Sort of like buying condoms after the baby is born.

Don't you have to get your boat inspected at the lakes anyways? What's the point of this extra sticker and fee?

Hmmmm...never had my boat inspected at a lake. I think most of the lakes that don't have quaggas have simply outlawed outside boats from launching. DVL might be one of the few exceptions to that.

I don't have a boat but I could have sworn that I've seen inspection station signs so I just assumed that you had to get your boat inspected, guess I was wrong.

Yes.. DVL is an exception. Their water isn’t part of the Colorado chain, and they don’t have quaggas. Yet….

Thanks for the heads up! I forgot about my registration so went to AAA to renew it and noticed that I didn’t get a Quagga decal. Assumed it was no longer needed since it wasn’t part of the registration documentation at the DMV. Guess I’ll be making another trip to AAA.

Doesn’t get much more clear than that ! I was just at DVL 2 weeks ago, and my cousin had to go through their quagga inspection. We talked to one of the officers there at the lake and I specifically asked him if they had the mussels yet. He replied NO ! Then he went on to tell me that their lake is not part of Colorado water, and that’s why they have tight inspections ( unlike all the other dirty lakes he says ). He was a very proud soldier, I tell ya.. Anyways.. That’s where my info came from. He did mention Silverwood as well.

Just sayin’. I’ve done a lot of research on DVL. The Flatheads are from the Colorado River…..Maybe they will let us use Live Bluegill to thin out those Invasive Gamefish.
