The early bird fishes the worm! Got in a little float tube session at Miramar this morning. Started out at 5:45 and kicked my way across the lake to fish the points. I quickly found out there were no fish in the tulles, so I started fishing a little deeper with each cast. I finally found the fish in 18'-22' of water with the dropshot. Found a couple groups of breakers that were more annoying than worthwhile..most were 6"-8", and not worth the time! All the bites pretty much died off 9:00..covered a lot of water from 9:00-12:00 for naught! Ended the day with 8 fish, a couple decent ones, not counting the midget topwater fish! Lost a couple, nothing big! I would of fished Murray, but with Mr. Vinnybass and Ramona Angler there, that's pretty much a crowd and no secret spots left! Nice job up there! Looks like you had a lot of fun!(Great pic with the bass) :)
I also have found that most of the bass I’ve got the last few years seem to be always a little deeper out there.
Looking forward to more reports from you and I’ll make sure I’m fishing at another lake ha ha

I thought you were fisheromen at first, but don't think he ever fishes Miramar. :)

Good morning at Miramar for you mcfish ! I guess Jeannie and I should have gone to Miramar instead of Murray. Vinny keeps catching them all at Murray.

I'm not sure I recommend Miramar right now..I worked my butt off..and I know the lake! If you don't really know the lake, it looks like a mass of tulles that all look the same and no real visible structure! It can be frustrating a lot like Murray! Mr.Vinnybass has caught all the bass at Murray, has a list with all their names and how often he's caught each one! I know Murray....and I have no such list!

I fished Miramar with my dad almost every weekend starting in the early 70’s and on and off for several years. Back the, there was lots of openings in the tulles. You could walk the shoreline and find plenty of spots to cast your plastic worms etc. All through the 80s and 90’s the tulles grew together more and closed off the openings basically over 90% of the lake or more. There was some structure off of Woodson point that I fished years ago... and you could see the trash cans and sunken boat etc....,,but the grass/vegetation has grown over it. There are a few other spots where you can see some cement pieces and in Carole cove the sunken cage thing(not sure what to call it) is there. I know the lake pretty well and basically I have better luck throwing outside some of the main weed lines and fishing in 20 to 25 feet of water and even deeper. There are bass in the tulles too obviously... but for better results like mcfish had some of the fatter ones are in deeper water. Then again, you can fish deeper at times and not a bite. Tough lake and most bass are clones. You need to fish it a number of times to find a pattern and best places to work your plastic worms.
So I agree with mcfish that it is not that easy of a lake to fish RamonaAngler.

In the spring, throwing senkos at the edge of the tulles works really well...not so much now! Let's just hope the politicians don't play games opening up our lakes next spring!

Remember what I tried to teach you, fish closer to the brim of your hat and camera hand fully extended!

I did not fish today. Yesterday's outing was WAAAY too expensive!
