This National Anthem thing is being paraded as a protest for "free speech" or "free expression"! BUNK!
Why was Tim Tebow told he could not put " John 3:16" in his eye-black? Why were Cowboy players told they could not memorialize the police officers that were killed in Dallas? There have been many times when the NFL has denied free expression. What makes this special?

The NFL wanted to put up a united stand against what Trump said about it's players. There was no religious beliefs being brought up. It looks bad for NFL if they don't let Kapernick back in though.

I take a different view of the kneeling. I look at the players kneeling and giving thanks to America for the opportunity to make a lot of money playing football. I can spin anything. LOL

Good question. I don't have an answer, but I think they should be told to stand for the National Anthem and if they have an issue with some political policy, then go about it on their own time and platform and don't use the NFL's time and platform.
How many of us can use our employer's building or web-site to put up a sign or statement of something we personally like or dislike or our religious ideas and not get fired for it? Would it be ok for an airline pilot to state their political or religious stance while you are on your flight? Seems that if you make $$$$$$ for the business, the owner will look away or join you.

    What makes this so special?
It's anti Trump and anti America that's the new " in thing now."
If the football players don't like it here go play Canadian football.

Technically, they were all uniform violations, and the NFL is petty and greedy enough to punish those. I'll never forget when DeAngelo Williams was fined for having "Find a Cure" under his eyes during breast cancer awareness month!

I'm just disappointed in how Trump handled these issues as the currnt "father" of our country.

Says a lot when he didn't call those who violently participated in the Charlottesville marches SOBs.

America is a big family of differences and we need a leader with the capability to harness those differences as strengths and not as weaknesses.

I blame this all on Trump, aggravating the divide amongst the people and bringing politics into sports.

Yup and he lost his job. Should've been end of story.

But now look what can of worms Trump opened up.

    Great leader, huh?

Do you understand why the original people who took a knee did so? I'll admit, when it was first came about, I thought, 'what a joke, what disrespect.' Now though, I completely understand it and fully support it.

The inequality in this country is truly unjustifiable.

And F POTUS. IMO. He can suck a big donkey D

Firing one guy to set the example was easy, now to fire entire team and coaches....

I just hope after all this, everyone can still watch sports together happily and not judge one another.

Ah, you support NFL, NBA you must be unpatriotic, etc.

Ah you watch NASCAR? That's as American as you can be!

Unfortunately these are the times we live in. However, the leader of the free world should work to unite the country not help divide it. I think there are more important matters to attend to.

They are not taking a knee to advocate for freedom of speech. They are taking a knee to protest inequality in this country. The people who are not listening and trying to understand the protest are the ones who are pushing this false narrative about disrespecting our armed forces or first responders This had nothing to do with any disrespect for our country or our military. This was simply a player expressing himself to bring awareness to inequality. Maybe it was not the right platform but he did not start this out of disrespect. That excuse is just being used by people who don't want to have the difficult conversation about race in the United States.

Whoever said that cost Kap his job? He lost his job because the team no longer needed or wanted him. Seems no other team wants him either.

No, because I never saw an interview of their reason. For the first person that did take a knee, Kap unless there is someone else, he did it because of non justice and police brutality. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ka0446tibig
