So since I hadn't had the float tube out (Savage Gear 170) for a while I decided to get up early and head to Mission Bay to the my "Corvina Spot" to try and entice them with the top water again but this time from the float tube. The morning was slow with just two bass and a short Halibut on the jerk bait. As I was getting ready to call it a day I hook into something large (I thought it was a halibut) that starts to tow me out into the center of the cove. long story short i finally see it's a foul hooked round ray about 20 lbs!!! like the dumb arse I am I reel it in closer.......(note to self cut it loose) This is where the fun starts. After about a 15 minute fight, the ray gets a second wind and takes off under the tube and with one swipe of his 2 1/2 foot tail punctures my tube!!!! So now I'm around 40-50 yards from shore with a punctured tube and a large ray on the end of the line. It took me all of about 40 seconds to move about 50 yards to shore. When finally reached the shore I was able to get out and horse the big pregnant female in!!! you've all seen small Halibut and SBB before so i'll spare you the pictures.

Anyone else have such an experience with a sudden leak feel free to chime in.

    Tight Lines!!

Rays are very powerful and dangerous even when catching them from shore

That doesn’t sound like a round ray to me.

I keep my pump on-board but i would imagine it was a pretty large hole. Can't think of anything you could possibly do to patch a hole that size on the water. Depending on the size of the hole, Aquaseal works great for patching most holes on urethane bladders. I have personally patched 4-5 pin holes on mine. Highly recommend Aquaseal for all tubers.
