Snuck out of the house at 5:15am. Grabbed a rod and my pack and made the long three block drive to the beach. A little early so waited for the sun to peak out. Around 6 I got my feet wet. First fish came early. A few spread out in the next couple hours. Ended at the pier with a nice 19” Corbina. Total tally, 3 Barred Perch, 2 YFC, 1 Bean. All on sand crab.

Grunion must of run last night. Found a fresh dead early on. Then while walking back to the van, a lively one gets washed up. Fished it for a little but had to run.

Healthy fish! I suspect you'll be back on the sand soon.

That’s one of biggest Corbina I’ve seen this summer. Frikin tank, nice job ! That perch is a little tanker as well.

there have been some friggin monsters this summer. That actually eat the sand crab! Seeing them is one thing. Tricking them is another story. I personally have 4+ fish over 20” this summer.

    Nice.

I'm starting to see in reports with pics of fish a sort of "artistic" pose, or setting of the fish. Not there's anything wrong with that... just an observation. Kind of entertaining.

. I only take pictures if it’s a smooth. The fish just happened to work itself off the hook as I was planing him in. Phone is 2 seconds away. And I think you’re giving the camera man more credit then he deserves haha. These phones take really good shots.

Noticed a faint rose color on the gill & tail fins . . . spawning or is it too late in the season for that?

I noticed that also. I stopped try to figure out why the hell some fish look different than others. This one was sooo silver. When I had him swimming sideways, I thought it was a bonefish for half a Millisecond. Then this one from a couple months ago was striped? Who knows.

That’s an awesome color pattern! Tiger stripes on a bean? Very cool!

And look at the gut on that thing! Nice fish!
