Over here for business, walked over to a city park to get some exercise after the looooong flight. Nangang Park in New Taipei City.

Guys were fishing with traditional carp fixed pole gear / floats with packbait. Only saw tilapia caught, although janitor fish (catfish species) are also there I guess. I like their sun shield setups! None were keeping the fish (even though there was a sign saying you must keep the fish).

Seems that Taiwan is a good place for fishing in general. Also they have these private pools that they supply everything and charge per hour, then a chef cooks what u catch. Sounds fun, hope I get to experience that. Don’t think the coast is in the cards for me this trip.

BTW, at 9am it was 90F and crazy humidity. San Diego is awesome!!!!

Nice! Japan and Viet Nam have similar places, but not sure if they have any place that cooks them for you. My wife caught a bunch of small tilapia in VN last summer.

3rd pic. Umbrella plus side shield with a small cooler that doubles as a stool. Didn’t take a close up pic because I didn’t wanna invade their space

Very cool. Seems like a nice size tilapia on a fixed line rig would be a fun fight
