    Good Afternoon Everyone,

Looking for your thoughts on bringing my two boys on their first half day trip? My main concerns are will they be able to see/fish over the railing (52'' and 56'' tall), will it be too chaotic for them to enjoy, will they have a fun time, etc? And what boat do you suggest? Thanks in Advance

I'd watch the numbers and not go if the YT are biting, other than that if its just bottom fishing it shouldn't be too chaotic.

I went on the Daily Double today, for a half-day, we did bottom fishing and it was pretty laid back. Pretty sure kids would be fine at 4 foot something, the rails are probably about 3 foot high or a little more.

You can always get recommendations from the horse’s mouth. Call the landings and they will give you exact info and recommendations. Good for you taking your kids fishing, never too early imo

    Documented here:
DOM FINALLY GETS TO PLAY CHECKERS!!!

Go on the Dolphin, go on an a.m. trip, go during the week...
    you'll be fine!

Heres his 2 day tuna trip at 6, he takes after his mom & is short too....:emoji_grimacing:

bottom fishing is always fun for kids, but so is chaotic fishing. personally i think that bottom fishing would be better for them. I don't go on a lot of boats cuz I'm a broke college student, but the New Seaforth has always been fun for me

I've had my boys on 1/2 day boats as young as 4. No problems.

Your kids will be fine at that age. Any half day boat will be great. Dana Point afternoon trip on Sunday is buy one adult and a kid gets to fish free. They have a kids clinic before the trip which teaches them all about fishing the boat. I think it is easier for them to fish the bottom instead of fly lining, also a strip of shrimp is easier for kids than a big sardine at first.

They’re overdue, do it! You will be fine…
If you can go during the week, it’ll be more enjoyable, slightly less people

They will do great. I started my son on half days around 5 years old, last summer he graduated on up to a 5 day to Guadalupe Island for his 10th birthday.

Dang that's awesome. At 10 years old I'd kill to go fish on a boat like I saw on TV. Dan Hernandez would be on very early in the morning while I was eating breakfast waiting for the bus. Glad OP booked his trip on Daily Double. His family is going to have a good time. Fred and the crew always seem to be great with kids. Wish I could join ya but I work the weekend.
