I do a rock climbing trip every year during thanksgiving to Bishop and since i had an extra day, i brought the rod and fished for trout 1 day. Ended up at Pleasant valley Reservoir nice and early (a blistering 35 degrees outside at ~9am) and fished the morning and evening bite. Thanks to Werfless for the tip to bring some jerkbaits. I fished the very small wham fish all morning in place of a mini jig for a handful of bites that didnt stick. Frustrated and wearing too many jackets come noonish i walked back to the car, enjoyed a beer and some turkey left overs.
With nothing to lose, i walked back down the lake around 2:30pm and fished the mini td minnow that was ~15 years old with 0 paint left on it and low and behold the bites started to come. It look a few bites to get the right twitch twitch pause down but after that it was on (for bites at least). Total of ~15-20 bites, 5 fished hooked, 2 fish landed. Kept the best one for a little catch and cook, other fish was unhooked in the water. I asked a few people as im not a trout genius, is this a brook or a brown??

Id love to get back with some waders and a fly rod, the flowing stream area was more my style vs the open rocky lake.
    *added to the bucket list*

    Nice.
Brookies will have orange-ish fins, with white edges.
And viewed from the top, Brookies will have markings that look a lot like looking straight down at a mackerel: squiggly lines like termite-eaten wood on their backs.....

Yup sounds like the confirmation is a brown trout, just a darker that normal version?
