i was out yesterday and seen a lot of people hooking up but I was not... not sure I’m doing the right thing as tuna fishing is new to me. I have a 25’ Grady and am willing to take you out for some help!

Or just some advise is great also!

Lots of chum best is live chum but the chunk works too small hooks I was running 20lb mono and size 2 circle hooks but different company’s sizes seem to be different I let them have a 2-3 second run then lock the lever down no hook set just start cranking the most important thing I’ve noticed is a lot of chum throw 2-5 fish out every 2-3 minutes and throw them rite where you throw your bait if your still not gettting but try 20lb floro I haven’t had to use that yet this year and we have been doing just fine

Scale down the line and hooks, anal hook your bait. Pick a lively one and get it out away from the boat. Sometimes it is about grinding away. This year you have to troll ridiculously far back too, and small baits are the rule, even your troll lures need to be smaller...

That would be great I will hit you up if I make it out I usually go during the week as it’s less crowded at the ramps. One of the perks of being the boss

They are being super picky this year. Probably because of all the boat traffic and seiners. Those smaller lively baits in the tank will be what gets them for you. Until the frigates, bullets or pelagic bonito/macks get to it, those smaller baits will be key

I agree with that this year we haven’t even had a hit yet on the troll and we’re running out riggers with daisy chains feathers cedar plug an a small purple black rapal which already finds the fish
However we got a larger nomad designs minnow that was slaying the yellowtail at the islands

All the troll fish I have heard of have been on SMALL cedar plugs or aku clones at a couple hundred yards from the boat

Crazy a couple hundred yards back, I can’t seem to get that perfect swim splash action if I go any further that 100 yards
