When using a quick clip, do y’all remove the stock oval ring on the Lucky Craft 110? Or do you keep the ring and attach the clip to the ring?

Most people swap out the trebles and split rings; sometimes removing the middle treble as well

I remove the middle treble and tie directly to the oval split ring with a sd jamb knot.....i trust my knots better than any snap.

I removed the split ring and tie directly to the Lure. I tie with straight braid helps my confidence with the knots.

I haven’t been a fan of the quick snaps. My go to in the 110 is remove the split ring and tie a rapala knot. Hasn’t failed. Only advise just like any connection. Check the knot regularly. A good amount of casting can wear the loop where it contacts the metal eye.
If you choose the snap, I would remove the split ring

In the minority here, I use clips. 20# braid to a 20# fluro leader (because I ain’t losing another jig). As far as the split ring, Take that sucker off!

If you’re really new to LCs, lose the middle hook and ring, more of a hassle than anything. 3 trebles is overkill, IN MY OPINION.

I agree. The snap seems to act like a split ring with respect to the action of the lure.

What do they swap out the trebles and split rings with? I've only seen one video where the guy replaced them with Owner trebles and hyperwire split rings. Also, what does removing the middle treble do (do you remove the middle split ring also?) Does it make it swim better or something? Is that specific to the LC 110 or just any jerkbait in general?

Yeah, just better quality trebles. Removing the middle treble because the fish either bite the tail or the whole damn thing; middle one isn't doing much except picking up more weeds

I've actually been playing around with different LC rigging over the last few weeks.

Straight 30# braid to the lure, straight 15# flouro to the lure, and both to a power clip. I've landed on 30# braid to a barrel swivel with an 18" flouro leader with a power clip.

Every combo has caught fish for me. My preference for the swivel is mitigating the twist & LC rolling over the line.

If you plan on changing colors, the clips make it very easy. I also like the way the knot seats over the clip's pointed top. Like others have mentioned, ditch the middle hook.

Perhaps outside the scope of this post, but I've also "modded" an LC with different size trebles & Suspend Strips. There's a good YouTube video on this process. Not enough time on the water to have an opinion yet...

Are you using a swivel or line-to-line knot?

Uni to Uni. No swivel. Haven’t experienced any issues myself such as twists.

I like to be able to switch between lures quickly. I have 30lb braid to a quick snap, when put the lc on i snap it to the stock o ring. Dont notice any difference in action or casting.

Nice, so you tie the snap directly to the braid without some kind of mono/fluoro leader? I'm liking that idea too since I get so paranoid of a leader getting snapped off (which wouldn't be so bad if lures didn't cost so much).

Not saying you wouldn’t have success but straight braid to the lure will risk pulled/straightened hooks. Especially with current, under tow, surge and how big halibut run. It’s too much of a risk.
Have you ever seen a super line hook for bass fishing. It’s huge so it reduces being straightened.
    Proceed with caution

I've gotten good at avoiding the rocks when fishing the bays, if u still bump a rock sometimes with your braid then a leader isn't a bad idea.

In the surf with LC, I do a 12lb mono main to a 3foot 15-20pink flouro leader. I use the seagar knot. IMO opinion with testing, the seagar is solid compared to uni uni.
Braid has its purpose and again, IMO with a lot of time fishing and experimenting, it’s not for this application.

Good point also. I'm not so worried with the snags since I would only ever try straight braid with floating lures ( jerkbaits, etc.) so I don't snap off during a cast. I definitely would use a leader if bottom fishing or fishing around structure, though.

    Googling it right now ;)

Gamagatsu super line or owner beast hook. They are thiiiiiick wire for pulling fish out of heavy cover with braid

I’ll take a big fish over snapping a lure off any day. I have straightened hooks on at least a dozen big fish from braid.
Deep yoyo is the only time I’ll use straight braid but even then, I usually put an 80lb flouro leader on. Not always. And the point is having constant contact to the jig and hook set with 150 plus feet of line out. Again, to each their own
