Had every intention of going topwater or broke, but I could not stick it out. My second goal was to go all hard baits. That did not pan out either. Caught one on the Rover, one on a small Jerk Bait, and alas, two on plastics! Short day.

Caught something new today, a Blue Heron! He was just a youngun and had not learned about "fish" with hooks in them. The first time he picked up my Rover, he had it his his beak and when the line was taught between him and me, he spit it out. The second time (slow learner) he pounced on it and got it hooked in the bend of his "Knee". I eased him to me on the 15 lb braid, took him by the leg and removed two trebles from his leg. Best fight of the day. He did not seem any worse for wear, but will likely be sore for a few days. Maybe he learned something. Sorry no pics!

I'm gonna piggy back your post @fisheromen ...yes, another typical morning at Sutherland. Caught 2 on a Whopper Plopper size 130, color: white. Those 2 came within 20 mins of getting to the lake. Then I had a nice hit on a black lunker punker frog, but missed the hook-set. Good to see Fisheromen out there this morning. Might have to head back sometime this weekend, again.
Pics: 2 bass and a mom and 3 baby turkeys.

You guys both had a better day than I had at Dixon today. I managed one miniature sized bass on a dropshot rig. My fishing host schooled me with 7 or 8 fish.:(

I need to hit Sutherland this weekend and feel redeemed.

Thanks for reporting. We will be headed to Montana soon, and there are always turkeys around my brother's place. Fun stuff.

Was that frog a Lunker Punker or Lunker Hunt?

Well, at least you avoided the skunk, @bassgalrascal . I've never been to Dixon. Hope to see you at Sutherland one of these days.

Don't think I've ever seen baby turkeys...I must of thought they hatched full grown....or I didn't think about it at all. That would be one heck of a big egg. For some reason I'm craving an omelet!

I checked my hunting regs...no open season on Great Blue Herons. I think I know a Peta nut that would like to talk to you though...plead insanity! They understand being insane!

Good memory, and makes me want to fish DVL now, but gotta get the small boat w/ four stroke ready first. Tire bad on one side, and trailer light gone on that side too (tire blew up on the Grapevine on last trip back from the Delta and took out the tail light too).
