If you listen to the recording when you call San Vicente, the newest message says the newest info he’s heard was June maybe moved up to May 15. Looks like it’s DVL for now.

Let's see....48 miles from my house and guaranteed plenty of carp waiting for me....only I don't fish for them...ha ha
Heck an open lake is alway better than a closed one. At this point...beggars can't be choosy. :) Thanks for the update and maybe there are a few bass ready to bite now that the water is warmer. Water temp was in the late 50's when I last was there before they closed.

I emailed all the county surpevisors and the CAO about shore fishing in general and th
I talked with the woman who works from the new mini-trailer building at Murray yesterday , she said fishing will open "soon .....in about a week". From what I've read on sdfish about Murray being a favorite lake to you , I guess you know her. She used to work out of the building at the front of the rental docks.

The water is super clear,. The algae that's usually pretty thick on the bottom seems to be knocked back a bit, not sure if that's seasonal, or if it's been treated.

The pandemic is becoming a poor excuse to put a heavy burden on the populace, basically it's now a farce, and everything should open again, we need 'herd immunity' and you don't get it cowering in place. And now this: The death rate was cut in half two days ago, the CDC says it's really only 35K deaths, not 67K! OMG: From their site...
Provisional Death Counts for Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19):

Bunch of "provisional" words in that article! That usually means they are covering themselves. But yeah, something over 37K covid deaths. Much better than 2 mil!

Edit: Looks like they are including comorbidities in other columns!

I don't necessarily disagree with the point you are trying to make, but I do disagree with distorting the data you are using. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and think that you didn't actually read the article you cited. If you had you would see that the count used in that article is derived from the actual death certificates that have floated up through the system to the CDC. As the article points out, the process can take weeks.

"National provisional counts include deaths occurring within the 50 states and the District of Columbia that have been received and coded as of the date specified. It is important to note that it can take several weeks for death records to be submitted to National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), processed, coded, and tabulated."

The CDC web site shows the confirmed COVID-19 death total as of May 3, 2020 to be 65,735. They have not suddenly reduced the total by over 30K as you imply.

On May 8 there is a meeting on the budget issues for the city. this link has the information. We have the chance to write in or call in with your view. Check May-8 and click the agenda calendar. It has the instructions on what is needed to be part of it. All we ask as fishermen and women. Be respectful. Do not go off all half cocked and start screaming about your rights. It is not about you, its about all of us. Its about more than fishing. Stay calm. Stay cool. And do not write in all Caps.

Thanks Linebig, would it help the city officials if we provide ideas for them to generate more revenue so they do not have to close some of the lakes in question and possibly move away from closing the lakes an extra day out of the month as they did last year?

Dog gone it! I’m sure linebig has some good info to share but the ads on the site are too effective and I’m distracted! I’m more interested in Fairy season now...

Yes, that last ad was very distracting. What were we talking about again? Oh yeah, I nominate Linebig and Vinny Bass to be the two representatives to speak. They both seem articulate, knowledgeable and diplomatic. On the Barrett side I nominate Maximus. I'm afraid if I spoke up and some guy was condescending and dismissive I would blow a gasket. Max would be mild mannered and put forth a compelling reason Barrett should stay open.

You’re right Chat. You don’t have the temperament for this. You would, as Linebig said, “go off half cocked and start screaming about your rights”. Kinda like some of those crackpots in “The Lounge”.
