These people in office, were put there to be our voice.we elected them to be there.
There not God’s that own the lands, they were put there to over see our interests. And be the people’s voice to higher government . They have been bought out to special interest.
We must do our home work on who we put in office.
    And vote

One problem with our vote..the vast majority of Californians are people who will vote for anyone that promises them free stuff..for California to give them all that free stuff it must stop fixing highways, stop trout stocking, eliminate fishing days, and shut down lakes! When you figure out how we can out-vote the freeloaders...let us know!!

It felt good and while I am only one person, there are thousands of fishermen out there needing a voice.
Thanks to everyone who is out there fighting the good fight. The more we unite, the more powerful we can become. Anyway, having the City Lakes open again to fish or just to enjoy its beauty does not seem like it is asking too much. We all know about social distancing and we all want to be safe like anyone else. My comments and revenue gathering ideas along with all the others who took the initiative to send their comments hopefully will help when the City is making their decisions. I pray they continue to let us enjoy this recreation that means so much to so many of us out there.

Or promises and never delivers on those promises. That's kind of how it works, isn't it?

Everyone needs to write in tonight!! Be professional and truthful. Talk about all the businesses that benefit from the lakes. Talk about fishing. Talk about free entry to Miramar and Murray. Yet be nice when speaking about that. Thanks

What if everyone pulled there boat down to the offices of these elected officials and started a protest / caravan to give them a different perspective on life. A parade of trailered boats clogging the streets might open their eyes.

I was over at Barnicle Bills Bait And Tackle today. Just to let you know...there’s a lot of guys out there fighting for us trying to get the lakes open . One guy recently spoke to Jim Brown and a few guys are trying to work with business leaders in the community. Contacting business leaders that may have little bit more influencing power with people in the city government. This does not mean to stop writing letters and emailing the city (like Rob said.. keep it going)because we need to keep doing this as much as possible. I just hope one day our reward will be us fishing again on our lakes.

Its more than about fishing. And thats our issue. We are a tiny little pimple of a faction within the total picture. Our main issue is alway thinking its only about fishing. The truth is, its about community. Everyone loses when the lakes are closed. Every business around every lake in San Diego loses money if no one is there.
And with the possible closer of Barrett and Sutherland it more about legacy lakes and legacy programs. Hunting on both. This
Is a major political issue. The city lakes run 7 county lakes. They need ti turn them over to the county. They need subsidized money to help out. We need every lake in the chain to have a day use fee. That means Murray and Miramar. The hard spot there is that the council members in those districts would flip out as their people would never re-elect them. So with that they close the lakes way out in the county where the people in the city have never even heard of them. The city council is worried about libraries being closed or museums and rec centers in their district. Lakes? Everyone still gets water. Fishing? Go fishing somewhere else. Thats their view.

We are in an extremely tough spot. The short terms looks bad. Yet its not dire, at least not just yet. Trust that some major players are working on our side to make our community have a spot light shined on it.

So just to update my neighbors, all the local lakes are closed to fishing, right?

Only lakes open are: Morena and Santee?

    You are correct!
Murray is not open unless you’re a walker or joggers and you sneaked in to walk around on the road along the lake. Drove by there today and it is not open for fishing.... the gates are still locked.
