The spring season is coming, with our local lake hodges open in Feb.
I guess you may encounter some coyotes like us if you try to fish a very secret or secluded spot:emoji_grin:.

Here is a video about our close encounter with two coyotes and lessons we've learned: https://youtu.be/SuBatxfcYFI Fishing is the main theme of the video, but hope it could deliver some helpful safety info.

Stay safe for bigger fish and tight lines:emoji_muscle:

Only time I ever had a problem with yotes there were a whole bunch, hit one in the head with a rock and they all scattered

Had one sniff me while I was sleeping on the WSM, I think geofish saw the paw print inside my own footprint next to my chair.. he seemed to walk in almost a straight line, only deviating to take a sniff and trot on. It was super dry, so I could tell he wasn't moseying, just a semi quick walk.. no harm, no foul

The Westside main is the water source on the far side of the yuha desert. Probably 4+ of them 40 feet from me broke into howls.

I'll usually go farther east and work my way back west. It was getting late, no bites, howling coyotes, packed it in

A coyote with mange looks a lot like a greyhound with his hair missing. Interesting animal. Can almost outrun a horse...Almost. Will eat just about anything. Mesquite beans, watermelon, cantaloupe, carrots, gophers, rats, snakes, bird eggs, dates, rabbits, young calves, sheep but never have seen them catch a roadrunner. You can look at their scat and tell what they are eating. Color of scat changes with crop season. Two can sound like a whole pack when they light up their vocal cords. Right now they are playing hell with my drip tape that is irrigating my onions. They enjoy pulling it up and poking holes in it. I enjoy poking holes in them.

I have coyotes cruising through my property on a nightly basis..having 3 or 4 of them stand behind my bedroom window and start howling is not a swell way to wake up. I watched one last Sunday hiding behind a tree along my driveway checking out people walking their dogs at 9:00 in the morning. I kept an eye on him to make sure he didnt do anything stupid! I guess he didn't see anything he thought he could take down. Screenshot_20200111-085133_Photos.jpg

I annoy the ones in the canyon near me. 3000 lumen light to illuminate them at night, wrist rocket to hurl objects near them, just letting them know this side of the canyon doesn't want them.

The light bugs them the most. Seems they know their cover is blown and run from the spot light.
