A little Sunday evening dock session from a few weeks ago. I hope you all enjoy it. Feel free to ask any questions I'm pretty open to helping the new guys. Even though I'M still a new guy, I have learned a few things.
    Thanks for watching!

Nice session, way to get your hands dirty. Question for ya. Are you letting that fluke hit the bottom?

Hi jongoodhue, Yes. I pitch it so it hits the piling or on the inside face of the piling. Then I let it fall until the line stops moving. It stopped falling because it hit the ground or something has it. I close the bail and do a quick pop to see if something is on. If nothing I bring in the slack then do a few rod tip lifts and wait about 1-2 seconds. If no bites I jig it a few more times, wait. Still nothing I'll reel it in slowly until I lose contact with the bottom then reel it in fast to start over.
You might have to play with the timing between jigging it and how many times you jig it. Once you figure it out keep doing what worked until it doesn't. It could be something subtle that you don't even realize you are doing. Like casting in the same spot 3 times or letting it sit on the bottom after the drop for an extra 2 seconds cause you adjusted your hat or glasses and you got bit. You should treat every cast like it counts cause when you figure out what's working in that area it will be because you are paying attention to what you are doing.
This is also good advice for when you watch any fishing vids. Sometimes you can learn more about what works than the guy fishing in the videos if you pay attention. In my vids I tend to do a play by play of my thought process sometimes because it helps me think and go back to see what has worked for me. It should be helpful to you too. I hope this helps you. Thanks for asking.

Lol.. In my vids they get zero commentary, watch and learn only.. Hahahaha.. A good opportunity could be had from my vids for the right type of observer, however.. My moray vid has some really startling observations according to at least one viewers' personal comment to me...

Here's a thought: a head mount for your camera would show more of your technique, presentation etc.

Good advice. I'll pick some up. I usually roll with a gaff under the seat but a smaller hali could be a problem. Thanks.

Yes. I need to get that second angle going again. My second gopro overheated at Barrett otherwise I'd have that overhead angle where you can see what I'm doing. Saving up to pick up a second gopro.
