Been getting owned lately on the freshwater scene. Had a great streak this year, but its over. Planned on getting my groove back on some spotties. Planned my trip for 2 days after the storms. Bingo! As soon as i started, it was on. My initial plan was to time myself and see if I could get 100 spotties, but I kept seeing fish wakes on the surface and they peaked my interest so I abandoned the 100 sbb quest, (which is a lot like work) and changed my outlook to relax and enjoy the day. So I fished willy nilly and did whatever crossed my mind.

I used Kalins and Lunker city plastics on my 6lb rod and homemade spinnerbaits on my 10lb rod.

    i ended with 43 sbb, 5 corvina, 2 halis, 1 wsb, and 1 mack.

I didn't have any hardbaits so I got the corvina by running a swimbait just a few inches under the surface. Watching the wakes chase my lure was the best part of the day.

Beautiful Corvina I'm going to have to give that swim bait retrieval a try!!! iv'e noticed when fishing for them with the swim bait they usually will hit it on the drop in the top part of the water column.

    Good- had a day off
    Bad- weather window wasn't open
Good- got there predawn and conditions were excellent for hard baits
Bad- the fish I wanted weren't home
Good-caught a few big sbb as bycatch including a 17"er
Bad- waders leaked like crazy, only fished for 2 hours
