    Greetings all-
Going to try and catch some sheep this weekend from my kayak in LJ. Everyone always talks about market shrimp being the best bait, but what size hook, sinker, line test, etc do you all recommend? I assume my best chances are deep on the edge of the kelp????
    Thanks in advance!

Double drop shot or dropper loop, 20-30lb test, size 4 octopus or baitholder hook. 1 to 3 Oz torpedo weight depending on current and depth

Single spider hitch on about 20# line for me, no. 2 hook, piece of steel knotted on the end.. or go the other route, whole lobster head from the SI ramp trash cans (in season), 5/0 long shank, on 50 lb...

I've caught about 2 dozen or so sheepies since december. My go to is a 20-30# double dropper with 3/8oz red big hammer jig heads. On those I stick half a shrimp skin off (my friend prefers skin on and he catches just about the same amount of me.

I've also had a lot of success with a t-knot instead of using a dropper loop knot on my set-ups. it's a little more work but it's more rigid and the hook never tangles with the line. Only sad part is I can't use the jig heads on it.

Cyjake111 .. look up "twisted boom" on YT, fish locker has a great video explaining it, it creates a stand off line out of a dropper style knot..

I like the T-Knot too. Use a spider hitch to that and it tangles less. It's basically pulling a spider hitch through a dropper loop.

I like 20 pound floro (cheapo red label Seagaur), single dropper loop with a number 4 live bait j hook or number 2 light wire circle hook. Filet of sardine and 2-8 oz of lead. Tight lines
