I live maybe 5 minutes from Lake San Marcos and was wondering if anyone knew if there was fishing there. I can't really find any info online...

It would be awesome to go fish on my lunch break.

    Thanks in advance.

Really good fishing at Lake San Marcos and it doesn't cost anything! All you have to do is get to be friends with somebody who lives there and likes to fish and you can go out on the lake with them and catch some nice bass. If you try to sneak over, the security department will come around for a nice chat and you will be pleasantly escorted out of the area.

So there's no way to just pay a fee or something?

you need to be a resident or a guest of a resident but fishing has been that good for a while there was a big fish die off about a year and a half ago and the lake has not yet fully recovered. before the die off though fishing wasnt too bad.

Ya you got to live there. The fishing has sucked for a while. They are mostlky small fish and do not get caught without your resident pass. They are extremely strict there and give tickets all the time. Be carefull if you decide to sneak in but it isnt worth the ticket to possibley catch a 2 pounder. It is a very dirty lake and hardly any fish left in there. Big duck toilet is what it is. I just wouldnt waste your time there.

I fished there a few times with my buddy and I will say the fishing was pretty good with fish up to 3 1/2 -4 pounds.
