i think were getting some 10 lb plus fish. were just not hearing about them. poway has had them lately, and others.
there's nothing to gain by showing off these fish, nobody wants to get called out for any witch hunts. once money came into play, some will do anything for a few bucks. sad that a once in a lifetime experience could be nightmare.

I think guys learned that lakes like Murray, Miramar, and Poway get overrun by yahoos once you post a big fish..and there's only so many that those little lakes hold! Heck, late 70s, early 80s, Otay, Hodges, and San V turned into a circus when we made the mistake of posting 10+lbers!

The guided trips on lake fork, and the other great lakes are very affordable , theres little cabins in the marinas to stay for less then a 100.00 per night. The fees for a guided trip are no more then here on our lakes for the day. I would sure like to spend a spring fishing them.
Californians should voice there opinions with the state cut backs on trout stocking in San Diego. We pay for licenses as well. It's the sweaky wheel

Can't do anything about the lack of water =/ an arm of Sam Ray probably has more fishable water than all of Socal put together let alone all the other lakes.

Other areas have very affordable annual passes that cover many lakes. The Tonto pass in Arizona is one of them that I am aware of. Anything like that for San Diego Lakes? Yes, I am looking for a laugh.

you have to remember those lakes aren't 360 deep, maybe 90 feet. and maybe free, we pay for our water.

It was the Sandy DeFresco fish caught in March of 1988 and went 21-10. Lyons and O'Haver taxidermy shop descovered a 2 3/4 pound divers weight in its stomach.
I've been using drivers weights from 1 1/2 to 2 3/4 lbs ever since but haven't landed anything to date, but I think I've been bit a couple times.

At least I was smart enough to remove the weights before I took my fish to L+O..!! I swear I was using the 2lb dive weight as my drop shot....

To be fair, the lakes north and east of Phoenix are all water tanks for ag and municipal use in the greater valley of the sun. And spending a day on them fishing is much more reasonable than many of our lakes here. And they actually get to use the lakes for more than no-contact fishing and to look at.

They also get to stay out on the water all night if they want to.
You can fish at night too, on a boat. I'm making friends out there right now.

i can fish 12 lakes within 35 miles of me. do that anywhere else, you think we have boat traffic on weekends, you have to remember the rest of the country have boating as well, there weather is hot and they go get wet.
you have to enjoy what you have, and we have a lot. the saltwater is endless.
