I've only been in SD for 2 years, and don't get out much, so all suggestions are welcome. I'll start...

Mizu Sushi in Mission Bay has some of the best kimchi I've ever had. Secret menu.

Titas kitchenette (Valerios bakery next door for dessert).. loretos on bancroft (Texano burrito or Pollo asado fries/nachos), Carnitas Uruapan on spring st at Palm (obvious), the barrel (Vaqueros) taco shop for carne asada, beef n bun on Fletcher for burgers and shakes (some of the best shakes in EC), Charlie's on Broadway in Lemon Grove for burgers/kebab , vine ripe on fletcher parkway for fresh rolls salad and marinaded meat, Etna's, lido's, Luigi's for pizza.. hungry enough yet? Lol

If you are showing up this way.. Pancho's on Fletcher Parkway has a great enchilada suisas or chimichanga (think carnitas, hint), great for an intimate occasion, margaritas are nice too

Pancho's is a great underrated spot for some quiet, low key dining. Choose the carnitas there when you can..

Yup, been there a lot. Convoy Tofu, Mana BBQ, and Original Pancake House are some places we frequent. Just going the non-Yelp route and looking for unique places that people recommend.

Best ramen...mitsuwa food court...I say this all the time that ramen (salt ramen special pork) is one of the top 5 meals I’ve ever eaten...
Yakudori on convoy is one of our favorite date night joints..we usually split a ramen and go in on the little stuff..try the bacon wrapped asparagus fasho..(their sister company is hinotez right down I he street..we go there sometimes too less of a wait)
I’ve heard, from a lot of credible sources that chef johns fish and chips in lemon grove is one of the best in San Diego but I haven’t made it out there yet..
Annie’s fine burger in Kearny Mesa is really good...lots of gourmet burgers and dogs and they have some good beer too..I think they have the best French fries hands down...

I got more but I’ll add em as I remember

In and Out, El Pollo Loco! I'm easy to please! If I feel fancy I will go to Olive Garden or Sammy's Wood-fired.

I've had the same wife for almost 40 years also!

    Ichiro on Convoy is good.

Chop Stix2 is ok, when money is concern and we’re with non-Discriminating Japanese

Chop Stix- on convoy is more authentic and better for noodles and curry.

    For Ramen:
Ajisen on Clairemont Mesa Blvd is good

    Yakyudori is good - Convoy

Tajima Izakaya has noodles and is good for Izakaya and Noodles . Mercury St

Hinotez on Balboa is good. Authentic Japanese, even Japanese Breakfast

    Breakfast:

    Original Pancake House (you know)
Spice House on Clairemont Mesa Blvd
(Great French Toast, Gyros and eggs )

    Comfort Diner Food
    Studio Diner
    Ruffin Rd

    SD Home Cooking Mission Valley

Ajisen..is that the spot next to turners? Last time I was at turners I saw a line forming and realized there was a ramen shop there I’d never noticed
