Has anyone else noticed a slight drop off? I've been getting skunked at my usual shore haunts and I can't seem to locate them. Lots of Croaker action, but I'm missing those Grumpy bites. It's just not a complete day of fishing unless I'm getting dragged into eel grass, stabbed by pectoral spines and poked by gill plates. Good times..

caught 6 spotties off the paddleboard this morning in sd bay - pretty average amount for me. maybe they are a bit deeper due to the heat?

have yet to get a croaker off the board though...

I threw 30 casts on Saturday AM around Spanish landing for zero bites. camo gulp jerk, white gulp grub, 3" anchovie paddle tail, zero bites. I have had the crappiest luck all summer. Both of those 2 gulp baits have helped me get into 15 fish in 2 hours in past years. I suck again!!

I'm definitely not at the Ninja status of fishing from a Paddleboard, but it sounds fun. I'm mostly fishing MB, so maybe I'll mix it up and hit the big bay.

It really isn't you. That spot hasn't been good from shore for me this year. I see people do very well from kayaks at Spanish Landing, but the shore bite has been tough. I got so desperate last night I contemplated squid and pier fishing, but talked myself off the ledge.

It was a grind for me the last time I was at SL. From shore I baited and waited still only ended up on 3 of the spotties. My float tube is outta comish right now but if I was trying to beat the heat I would float over there and drag a Ned rig around. There is so much eel grass over there at SL, I've noticed it pretty much the whole way from the beach playground area all the way to the bridge about 10 yards out, its been tough from shore all around for me last couple times. Others times Ive got limits with shrimp.

Yea, it has been slower in the bays for spotties.

Something is definitely amuck in the universe when you can't catch a Grump drop shotting a Gulp! I love using their jerk shad on a weighted hook too..it's fairly weedless.

look for ghost shrimp at tackle shops down there some have live ones some have em cured and frozen live ones are best if your not looking to buy em you can buy or make a ghost shrimp pump and go to the sandy areas on low tides and collect em yourself

Oh yeah I know about the ghosties,(the best bait there is) I have read that guys are using another type of shrimp that you get at the Asian markets.

Last Friday I fished from shore Morning and late afternoon. Lucky me, I know. Unfortunately I got skunked both sessions at places I normally catch at least 3 fish. Harbor Island and Mission Bay. I chalked it up to fishing slack high tide both sessions but maybe there was something else at play.

Been fishing the bay ~18 yrs. Past couple months is the worst I've ever experienced in the bay by far. I'm used to 45-60 minutes for at least 3 fish. Now that I'm trying to get the gf into fishing I'm regularly spending 2 hrs to catch 1-2. Size seems significantly worse than normal too.

Spottie fishing has been slow in MB the last couple times I targeted them. They didn't go anywhere....just off the chew right now. Maybe after the full moon.

With that screen name I figured you would respond!

I hear you loud & clear on Ohio fishing...grew up out around Medina w/ a 1/2 acre pond in our back yard that I stocked with catches from the neighbor's 10 acre "lake". Bass, perch, monster bluegill, walleye, and even a couple northern pike. I used to fish almost everyday after school and all day long during summer break. No BS phones and social media back then.
