Good day everyone...I'm just trying to be sure I'm not alone here...I have been lobstering for the past week. I managed to pull up baby rays, a bunch of kelp, and even a BABY OCTOPUS!!! However, no sign of bugs. Earlier in the season I pulled 4 huge ones in half an hour and have had no luck since. I have a boat and tried near the bait barge, zuniga jetty, shelter island, and as close to North Island as possible without (and with) Naval Security pushing me away. I use mackrel heads and sardines for bait and go out between 8 and 10pm. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong, or at least post something to share my sorrow? :) Have a good day and good luck to you!

I read on another forum that a couple of guys went out about 10PM and had nothing until about 12AM then it went off and they walked away with 9 keepers in an hour.

If you can, stay out there longer and maybe throw some cat food in the mix.

sometimes the crawl is early and sometimes it is late...they are still there...moon phases are critical too

    Peoples freezers and mouths.
From what I know lobster are deeper this time of year. set differnt nets at differnt depths. Dont be afraid to try 100 ft plus.

    100 foot plus?

On New Years day, the tide was minus 1.9 at 3:54pm and we picked them up by hand in a foot of water.

    Its fishing.

They're out there. Its all about location, location, location. A buddy and I pulled approx. 250 Tuesday night in 20' of open water. Only 4 legals but about 20 that were so close it was tempting. One more molt and they're dinner.

    I ate most of them.

The moon plays a big part. I don't even try top hoop on a big moon anymore. Other then that the crawl is different everytime. Wait it out and you should be able to pull some bugs. When you start pulling them start pulling quick and you usally have a 2 hour window when they start moving.
