Hi everyone - does anyone know where to buy cheap already-shucked raw mussels for bait? Even frozen is ok.

I saw them once at my local H-Mart but can't seem to find them anymore.

    Thanks in advance.

Zion has them.. Expensive bait.. I have been using market shrimp the last couple years with excellent success in both fresh and salt

Just hit the jetty at low tide and pull some off for free. Nothing ever beats fresh.

I bought some today at Zion. They had them fresh*(or at least not frozen) for like $4 in a little styrofoam tray. I also picked up shucked fresh* clams and mini whole squid for the same price. Also I don't have much experience with mussels or clams so I asked a few employees there and they all insisted that they were raw. They can be found on the wall just left of the seafood section

Scout out rocky areas at low tide and you can generally find enough to meet your needs. I'm on the shrimp bandwagon myself though.

I always get mine at Vien Dong Supermarket(off University Ave). Check the freezers in the Seafood Section. If you cut them in half you can make them last a few trips out. They've been great bait for me while the sandcrabs have been away.

So I ended up buying some mussels (shells on) at my local bait store over the weekend but because of the rain I didn't go out and fish. Question - is it possible to keep raw mussels (in their shells) "bait ready" (squishy and plump enough to put on a hook) after one week? If so, how?

    Thanks everyone in advance.
