Got em both, love em both! I'm trying to get ahold of the EHT Four Grain right now.

I did swing by Keg N Bottle. Good selection, but absolutely brutal prices in my opinion. I don't like that you have to make the employees climb a ladder just to find out what something costs. I had them look at a few just to gauge what their pricing strategy was and then quickly left to find greener pastures to spend $ at.

Bourbon and scotch are very different. Bourbon is a corn based whiskey with wheat or rye aged in New oak. They taste sweet and woody like oak. Scotch is malted barley, and has a huge range of tastes from very powerful and Smokey to lighter and bourbon like, but always distinct. Scotch is basically hopless beer made into whiskey. Scotch is aged much longer typically, partially due to cold climate. But generally you can think of bourbon as having that oaky cherry cola taste and scotch as more smokey and deep. Go to a whiskey bar and order a laphroaig.

So do you prefer Scotch, bourbon, rye, all of the above? Is Woodford anything like Jack, which I hated? (I can just hear an I-told-you-so from my bourbon-hating, Scotch-loving friend.)

i like em all haha. I like scotch the most but enjoy bourbon too. Bourbon is generally cheaper. Jack isn't very good for the price honestly. Woodford is much better but in the same style. for something sweeter try makers or weller. For something spicier try a rye whiskey, or a high rye bourbon like wild turkey. Highland Park 12yr is a scotch that fans of any kind of whiskey usually enjoy thoroughly, sweet Smokey chewy, a bit of everything. Skip the Jack and Johnny walker

Yeah not a fan of jack unless I got a bunch of people over..I was on a scotch run for a second...I just binge watched boardwalk empire and they were drinking tons of bourbon...so now I’m moving back to bourbon...there’s some bottles on this list I need to try...I actually didn’t mind the Johnny walker black tho

X2 on the Laphroaig... Peaty, smokey -- an acquired taste. And it holds sentimental value for me. Years ago I accompanied my Dad and bro on an ancestry research kinda visit to Scotland. At night I'd hit the pubs and a bartender turned me on to Laphroaig. Wish I coulda gone to the distillery...

Laphroaig is a love or hate thing. Tastes like a campfire. Johnny black isn't terrible, but at 30$ or more i think it's worth it to spend another 20$ if going for scotch. Highland park is like Johnny walker on steroids.
