Wohlford | 9/14 | Piebald catfish

    Went out to the local honey hole like we do every weekend in attempt to hook into a big blue or channel but got a little surprise. After an extremely slow day of fishing (full moon perhaps?) at around 5:00pm I hooked into one of these cow colored catfish. Upon further research it looks like they refer this fish as a “Piebald Catfish”. Beautiful in color and it fought like a champ!

    Does anyone have any more information on these?

    I've seen albino a few times in the catfish stocked lakes, but never a cow. I guess you could say, "What a cow!" with that one.

    I caught one around 20pounds at ElCap earlier this year, it surprised the devil out of me

    When I came in that day it was like perfect timing as "former" City Lakes biologist Larry B was at the dock. I called him over and he informed it was a blue cat just going thru some type of discoloration... Informed me that it just happens from time to time...
