What are you catching? What is the biggest? What bait? What weight? Why here? I don't fish myself, Why the long rod? I want to see a fish caught. Is that one, as kelp or waves pulls the line?

    Go the F away!!

I love the IV since none of that.

This is why I fish at night.... only people asking any questions at all about the fishing are other fishermen.

Most common (of course on days that I don't catch anything) is "what do you catch here?" - haven't had much more than that - maybe once or twice asking about bait. The questions are usually quick so I don't mind.
What bugs me more is when a kid, or adult, decides to enter the water 10' feet next to me, continue walking in and not realizing they are walking at an angle and getting close to my line. Did they not see a 6'2" man standing there??

Normally I do the same but life sometimes dictates otherwise. Boneheads walking into the line are another class unto themselves.

Life (and by this I mean my wife lol) demands that all fishing take place at night. Which works for me. Anti-social as I tend to be, less people to talk to the better lol.

And only time I ever had that issue at all was a paddleboarder at NTC. Lucky for them when they fell they fell towards the channel lol

I’ve gotten are you going to let that go? Just because you asked that question in a rude way, imma keep it and kill it in front of you. Lol jp. Sometimes I wish I was like that. Lol.

After someone asked if I caught anything, said that I caught a leopard but let it get, her response was "Good!" - I was about to explain that I didn't have choice since it was less than 3' - but I figured that would have caused all sorts of problems and decided not to explain. Next time I'll say nothing caught unless it is another fisherman.

I was surf fishing one time on an empty beach and there was one family left playing in the sand a few hundred feet away. The kids got curious and came up to me and started playing in the water in front of me. I tried to move away but there was a rip current that kept my bait in that area so I stayed close by to monitor it. Then a lifeguard comes up to me and says that I have to move 100yrds away from the swimmers even though I told him that I was there first. I asked him if that was a law and he said yes. Can anyone verify this law?

I don't get this reasoning. We pay to fish on the beach - everyone else is free to do what they want - but somehow we are the ones in the way.

I'm mostly standing in the surf when fishing, so I don't have to worry about having to talk to people. I also don't mind all the extra skin on display, so I'm happy the warmer tourist season is here.

I just make up stuff. My favorite from two years ago. Fishing South Mission early AM.

What'ya fishing for? - Dorados. Oh you have them here!? Wow! Yeah; I usually catch'em off of the pier but today they're chasing schools of GTs. Guy walked away with a confused look on his face. Win!

I feel it's a great opportunity to educate people on our local wildlife and promote the sport of fishing.

Can be for the curious people who have the decency to wait until I am settled be for asking anything. This individual last night would not stop asking crap as I put down my stuff, rigged, tried to read the water, bait up, cast and set the rod in the holder. The whole time blah blah blah............

    :emoji_rage::emoji_middle_finger::emoji_face_palm:

That isn't being curious that is interfering with my fishing.

Any time there are kids around that aren't being annoying little snots I'll show them a fish for a few seconds while I unhook it, answer a couple questions about it, and show them the release.

That's a good question. Would it surprise anyone if the CA law protects tourists and is anti-license-buying-fishermen?
