Well, what do you think happened?!?! Freaking lost it haha. No idea that bringing my bass gear with a crocodile spoon would get hit, but it did. I shoulda done this I shoulda done that, slightly stronger line and more knowledge on my part would have been nice. I noticed I buckled down the drag too much when I was getting worried, putting my thumb on the spool was the last straw. At least my buddy landed his so I could make a video! Hope you like it, and please watch Ryder's video too, he deserves everybody's attention unlike myself!

You must know him outside of fishing? He’s been on top of the audio and electric work for as long as I’ve known him. A true handy man.

Only downside of catching a tuna on really light gear is you run the risk of ruining the meat. As the fish fights, the muscles release lactic acid (just like yours do when you hit it hard in the gym). If enough is released, and if the fish isn't treated properly (bled, iced, etc...) you could potentially end up with tuna meat that resembles mashed potatoes. If the fish fights for extended periods, it gets exhausted, and it's muscles release a ton of lactic acid. That's why if you're going to eat the tuna, it's better to be over-gunned (with your gear), and just horse them in as fast as possible. But if you want to just catch and release the tuna, and enjoy the epic triumph of dominating a creature that has you completely outgunned, then go for it! Thanks for the report. Sounds like a blast!
