Heading out on a trip soon. Thought about maybe picking up some octopus to use for rockfishing and lings.

Does Zion Market in Clairemont have any in stock?

If not, it might be much easier for me to just head over to Dana Landing and pick up some frozen squid.

    Thanks.

I know for a fact they have shrimp and mackerel in stock, they usually have the smaller squid too... The hit or miss (mostly miss) is on those bigger flying squid they sometimes have in winter, that stuff is just insanely good bait.. keep in mind, the quality of the bait at Zion is much higher than bait store bait for sure...

Hmm, thanks. I'm just really pressed for time right now. Fighting Friday afternoon traffic just to get some squid is not something I'm entirely sure about right now. Should've picked it up earlier in the week but never really had the time! Thanks for the tips about the squid!

Not the only Asian market in town... Just the cheapest. Any of them will have better bait than a tackle shop tho... What part of town are you in?

If you are thinking rockfish, white shrimp with skin on is far superior to squid in my experience.

Costco in San Marcos sales octopus in bags. I don't know the price or if it's cooked already.
    Other Costcos may have them.

I typically bring market shrimp from Zions, does great for the whitefish and sheepshead.

Lucky Seafood in Mira Mesa is my go to. Big selection of squid and octopus always. Plus lots of shrimp and sometimes live crawfish.
