Great weekend of fishing!  We saw a number of full stringers each day, with several fish over the 5 pound mark.  We’re expecting the same for our Derby stock, and our supplier, Chaulk Mound Trout Farm has said to look for some extra-sized specimens this week.  We’ll be putting in 6,000 pounds, which should be more than enough for our lucky anglers to take a few home.

Due to the distance the supplier travels to deliver the fish, there is no time frame for delivery December 2.  We’ve stocked as late as 5:00 p.m. on some days, depending on weather across the West.  Your best bet would be to get to Dixon Lake at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 3 for the start of the Derby.  There will be plenty of trout for everyone. Please remember there is a $5.00 per vehicle parking fee charged each day during the derby.

As an extra note, we will be keeping the outlying parking areas closed until about 6:15 a.m. to ensure that everyone has a fishing permit in hand before they get their hooks wet.

Park hours: 6:00 AM- 5:00 PM
Dock closes: 5:00 PM (Boats called in @ 4:00 PM)
Last Plant: Tuesday, November 24 with 3,000 pounds of Rainbow Trout from Chaulk Mound Trout Farm.
Next Plant:  Wednesday, December 2 with 6,000 pounds of the Rainbow beauties from Chaulk Mound.   This year’s Nebraska Tailwalkers have not disappointed.  These have been a favorite for over five years, as they are pretty good fighters and are usually pretty tasty.
