El Capitan Reservoir Fish Report – 5/10/15

0

The 89 anglers checked at El Capitan Reservoir last week reported catching 174 largemouth bass, 21 crappie and 6 channel catfish.

Dennis Kolender and Bob Palashewski won the National Bass West Team Tournament at El Capitan on Saturday with a 5 fish limit totaling 16.23 pounds. This was the last NBW Tournament of the season, and a tight “Angler of the Year” race was buttoned up as Tom Leedom and Keith Gunsauls finished on top. Their 6th place finish on Saturday was good enough to best Marco Fenelli and Kevin Norling by 2 points after 6 tournaments.

Boat launching conditions are good with the lake level sitting 72.29 feet below spill level. The surface temperature of the water was reported at 66 degrees.

El Capitan is open for fishing and boating Thursday through Monday each week. The lake is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Water contact activities (jet skis, wake-boarding, water-skiing) are now permitted Thursday through Sunday.
