El Capitan’s hot bass fishing continues

The 91 anglers checked at El Capitan last week reported catching 228 bass, 16 bluegill, 3 crappie, 1 rainbow trout and 5 channel catfish.

Steve Brecko and Ken Kruck won the 29 team National Bass West Tournament on Saturday with a 5 bass limit totaling 21.39 pounds. Their limit included the largest bass of the contest, a 6.34 pounder. Perhaps even more noteworthy, Wade and Jon Strelic were finally beaten, taking home 2nd place with a limit weighing 18.41 pounds. Rounding out the top 3 was Willie Waller and Art Berry with 16.28 pounds. Tom Leedom and Keith Gunsauls wrapped up yet another National Bass West Angler of the Year Title in the San Diego Region with their 12th place finish.
