Bass at Lower Otay biting plastics and reaction baits


The 68 anglers checked at Lower Otay last week reported catching 144 bass to 5.5 pounds, 36 bluegill to .8 pounds and 4 channel catfish to 21.4 pounds.   • The water’s surface temperature is reported at 68 degrees and the water level is 14.8 feet below spill. Launching conditions are still excellent, despite the lower than usual water level.

    Trout stocks were steady from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife over the winter. The last stock was on March 19th. No other plants are currently scheduled.

    Lower Otay is open on a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday schedule with rental boats available on all three of those days, but be sure to call ahead to confirm (619)397-5212.
