Lower Otay Lake Fish Report – 5/25/15

  • Content Ad
  • The 84 anglers checked at Lower Otay Lake on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday reported catching 369 largemouth bass, 12 bluegill and 1 blue catfish that weighed 31.9 pounds.

Bass fishing is really good at Lower Otay right now, bass are breaking on bait and there are a lot of other bass flooding up into the tules, triggering a good flip bite. There are even some bass still spawning. For more info on the bite, check out sdfish.com member Linebig’s report “Epic Otay” from Monday.

Boat launching conditions are good with the lake 10.32 feet below spill level. The surface temperature was not reported this week, but should be in the mid to low 70s.

Lower Otay is open for fishing on a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday schedule. Boat rentals are available, but the concession may close with little to no warning. Please call ahead at (619)397-5212 to confirm operating schedule.
