Lake Morena Fish Report – 10/30/16

  • Catfish: Anglers are having great luck about 30 feet off the shoreline, or around the aerator.

    • Best spots: Aerator, Geezer Cove
    • Best lures/bait: Mackerel, bonito, chicken liver, stink bait

    Trout: No trout reported this week. We are getting 1,000 lbs of rainbow trout from Jess Ranch the week of November 14th.

    • Best spots: Geezer Cove, Paradise Cove, Hill Cove
    • Best lures/bait: Powerbait, nightcrawlers

    Bass: Bass are still being caught on crankbaits and plastics deeper off points. Topwater action is heavy during the morning hours.

    • Best spots: Horseshoe Cove, Rock Shelve
    • Best lures/bait: Crankbaits, swimbaits

    Panfish: No reports of crappie or bluegill being taken this week.

    • Best spots: Hill Cove, Pumphouse Cove
    • Best lures/bait: Mealworms

    Carp: Anglers are reporting large numbers of carp being taken right now along the shoreline.

    • Best spots: Geezer Cove
    • Best lures/bait: Doughballs and corn

    Catch of the Week

    • Derwin Chang of San Diego caught 4 bass in the 2 to 5 lb range on plastics by the dam
    • Hean PenKry of San Diego caught his limit of catfish, 8 lbs total, along with 4 carp using worms and doughballs by South Shore
