Lake Morena Fish Report – 12/17/16

  • The current water temperature is 48 degrees.

    No live bait, no crayfish. Boat launch is closed. All vessels must pass a Quagga Inspection and pay a $5 launch fee. State fishing license is required.


    • We received another plant from DFW and our 2nd plant of trout from Jess Ranch this week.


    CATFISH: Aerator, Geezer Cove
    TROUT: Geezer Cove, Paradise Cove, Hill Cove, Aerator
    BASS: Horseshoe Cove, Rock Shelve
    PANFISH/CARP: Hill Cove, Pumphouse Cove (Panfish) + Geezer Cove (Carp)


    CATFISH: Mackerel, bonito, chicken liver, stinkbait
    TROUT: Powerbait, nightcrawlers
    BASS: Crankbaits, swimbaits, plastics
    PANFISH/CARP: Mealworms (Panfish) + dough balls, corn (Carp)


    CATFISH: The few cat fishermen that are coming out are still having success with cut bonito

    TROUT: We have received two plants from Jess Ranch and three from the CDFW so head on out and catch some rainbows!

    BASS: With trout in the lake the swimbait bite is picking up, come on out and give it a shot at catching a trophy bass!

    PANFISH/CARP: No reports of crappie or bluegill being taken this week. Carp can always be seen up near the surface or by the shoreline so if that’s what you’re going for you shouldn’t have a hard time
