  • Catfish have really picked up. A few 4-5 pounders were caught using nightcrawlers in Horseshoe Cove. Most anglers are catching 1-2 pound catfish. Mackerel, bonito and nightcrawlers are your best bets for bait. Along with Horseshoe Cove, Geezer Cove and the T-Dock are also producing.

The bass bite has really slowed down. Only a couple of small fish were reported this week. Swimbaits, spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and plastics are the typical producers this time of year.

No reports of any panfish (crappie, bluegill, and sunfish) being caught this week.

Carp are being caught all over the lake. A few fish in the 4-7 pound class were taken on doughballs and corn. Geezer Cove is particularly productive.

Lake Morena County Park is located at 2550 Lake Morena Drive, Campo, CA 91906.

The lake is open 5:30 AM to 7:30 PM. The current water temperature is 77 degrees. No live bait fish or crawdads are allowed due to the threat of Quagga Mussels.
