Lake Murray Fish Report – 8/6/17

  • The water temperature is well above the 80 degree mark at around 85 degrees, but the bass action is still happening.

    Catfish are also hitting well. One technique that’s been producing has been to use 20 pound test line with a 1 oz sliding barrel sinker on a 3-swivel leader setup. Use a 1/0 wide bend or circle hook on each leader with cut mackerel or shad. Cut mackerel right behind the gill plate and use the head. Strip the body crossways into 1/2 – 3/4″ pieces. Find a windy point and let the fight begin.

    Ryan Catabona of San Diego caught a 4 pound bass on a jerkbait off Cowles Point on August 1st.

    Kenny Jablecki (pictured above) caught a 5.75 pound bass on a black senko near the dock on August 5th.

    Steve Buechner of San Diego caught a 4 pounder on a senko, also on August 5th. Location was not revealed.
