  • Catfish are biting throughout the lake. Sunday, Wohlford regular, Paul Eddo of Escondido caught and released a 44.50# Blue Catfish fishing off the South Shore Rock Pile using cut mackerel. This behemoth was the largest catfish to be weighed in so far this year and our third largest on record. Fall is the season in which the larger catfish are more active and it is not unusual to see whiskerfish hitting the scales that weigh anywhere from twenty to nearly fifty pounds. Lake Wohlford cats prefer cut mackerel or chicken liver.

Largemouth bass can be found lurking around structure. The bass are hitting frogs, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.
