Dixon Lake announces first trout stocking of the season

Dixon Lake has seen their water temperatures dip enough to allow them to schedule their first trout stocking of the season in a couple weeks. According to their announcement on Saturday, the lake was at 71.42°.

  • As long as temperatures continue to decline and land below 70°, Dixon will receive 4,500 pounds of rainbow trout from Calaveras Trout Farm on Wednesday, November 14th.

And, pending the trout of course, the city of Escondido has tentatively scheduled their 40th Annual Dixon Lake Trout Derby for November 30th through December 2nd.

Dixon Lake is open daily (closed on Christmas), and no California State Fishing License is required to fish there. Anglers are however required to purchase a daily fishing permit at the lake, and a parking fee applies on the weekends.
