One of the year’s biggest bass highlights action from Lake Murray


Trout were stocked on 2/10/16 and they’re being caught on Powerbait and Rooster Tails. The water level has returned to full capacity and the fishing has improved as a result.

  • Large bass have been reported off swimbaits, plastics and live shiners. Adam Wright of Los Angeles had 3 bass weighing 15 pounds with the largest settling the scale at 8 pounds on the 12th. Adam was fishing shiners.

    The biggest bass of the week was caught by Jake Weakley of Carlsbad, fishing with his dad Mac Weakley on Monday, the 15th. The fish weighed 13 lb. 11 oz. and was caught from the fishing pier on a swimbait.

    The crappie bite is still doing great in deep water with some anglers reporting limits of fish in the 1-2 pound range. Josh Nelson had 6 crappie weighing 10 pounds with the largest going 2 pounds, all caught on jigs in the middle of the lake on Wednesday, the 10th.

    Lake Murray is open for fishing and boating daily. The concession stand and boat rentals are available Wednesday through Sunday, but please call ahead at (619)466-4847 to check days and hours of operation.
