Paul Voytko caught and released a 49.30 pound blue catfish at Lake Wohlford, breaking the previous lake record of 47.25 pounds caught in November of 2013.
Voytko caught the fish on Saturday, November 29th on a piece of cut mackerel near the South Shore Rockpile area. With the pending trout plants at Wohlford, you can expect this fish to fatten up on a steady diet of rainbows the rest of the winter.
There is a good chance this won’t be the last blue catfish record caught this year in San Diego – winter is typically a great time to catch these large blue catfish at all of the local reservoirs, especially those which stock trout.
